1. Complex sentences with adverb clauses of time (Câu phức với mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian) - Câu phức là câu bao gồm 1 mệnh đề độc lập (independent clause) và ít nhất 1 mệnh đề phụ thuộc. Bắt đầu bằng 1 số liên từ:

- when (khi, vào lúc) - while, as (trong khi) - until, till (cho đến khi) - as soon as, once (ngay khi) - before, by the time (trước khi) - after (sau khi) ... Ex. I hope to pay him a visit before I go away. 2. Adverbs of frequency (Trạng từ chỉ tần suất) Trạng từ chỉ tần suất thường xuất hiện ở 2 vị trí: trước động từ thường, sau động từ TO BE

Ex: He is sometimes late for school. I often go to the movie with my friends.

Be (+) S + am/is/ are + … (-) S + am/is/ are + not + … (?) Am/Is/ Are + S + …? Ordinary verbs (+) S + V(s/es) + … (-) S + don’t/ doesn’t + V(inf)… (?) Do/ Does + S + V(inf)…? - Dùng để nói về các sự kiện trong tương lai: lịch trình tàu xe, thời khóa biểu, kế hoạch định sẵn. Ex: The bus arrives at 5.00p.m tomorrow.

4. Past continuous tense (thì quá khứ tiếp diễn)

Be (+) S + was/ were + V-ing… (-)S + wasn’t/ weren’t + V-ing…… (?) Was/ Were + S + V-ing …? - Thì QKTD dùng để diên tả hành động, sự việc, hiện tượng đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ. Ex: I was reading my book while my friend was watching TV.

* Thường được dùng với when, while.
