Tom had waited all week for Saturday’s football match. His team, the Tigers, was
playing against the strongest team in town. Tom was excited, but he was also worried because
their best player, Leo, had hurt his foot and could not play.
At the beginning of the match, the Tigers played badly. They lost the ball many times,
and the other team scored first. During the break, their coach told them not to panic. “You
don’t need one star player,” he said. “You need to work together.”
In the second half, Tom passed the ball more often instead of trying to score alone. His
teammates did the same. Ten minutes before the end, Tom passed the ball to Ben, who scored
their first goal. Just before the final whistle, another player scored again. The Tigers won the
match.
Tom learnt that teamwork can be more important than talent.
