1.WARM UP: ( GETTING STARTED) (CHATTING)  Do you have any pen-pal? (yes/ no)  Where does he / she live?  Has he / she ever visited your city?  What activities would you do during the visit? (I think I’ll take them to the temples and churches / to the beach / to the mountains / to the theaters / to the restaurants…) 2.PRESENTATION: (LISTEN & READ)  Pre- teach vocabulary: - (to) correspond: (explanation: if two people correspond, they regularly write to each other): Trao đổi thư từ. -a mosque: (picture) nhà thờ hồi giáo - (to) be impressed by: (explanation: admiring someone or something very much): có ấn tượng. - (to) pray:(mime) cầu nguyện (RUB OUT & REMEMBER)

 Introdure the topic: - Setting the scene about Lan & Maryam: “Lan’s Malaysian pen-pal- Maryam came to visit her in Hanoi.” - Listen & read the text: - choose the correct option: 1- C 2-B 3-D 4-B  Grammar presentation: - Review: used to + V-infinitive - Eliciting questions: “– what did Lan use to do when she was a primary school girl? (She usually walked past the mosque on the way to primary school.) -what about now? Does she often walk past the mosque now? (No, she doesn’t do it anymore.) So: she used to walk past the mosque on her way to primary school…”used to” here mean usually or often did something in the past and no longer now. -what did Lan say to Maryam at the end of the week? ( she said :”I wish you had a longer vacation.”) -what form of sentence did Lan say? (The past simple with “wish” is used when we want really to be different and exactly opposite of the truth
